About Our Cherokees-Daniel, Hildebrand and Wilson Lines
Welcome to the Cherokee Ancestry pages of my Grandfather James Daniel Wilson. There is twenty one members of my family that were enrolled on the Cherokee Dawes Enollment, covering four generations. This ranges from James' Grandmother, Mary Elizabeth McCreary to James' daughter, Bertha Wilson. Included in my family are Cherokee Old Settlers arriving in Indian Territory in May, 1834 and settleing just east of Fort Gibson, and emigrants that in 1838-39 came to Indian Territory over the Trail Where They Cried, known today as The Trail of Tears. My Great Great Great Grandfather, Moses Daniel, was the Cherokee Conductor of the 7th Detachment, leading over 1000 fellow Cherokee to the new land over this trail. My family were hard working farmers, merchants, politicians, and even slave owners. Irish, Scottish and Germans married into my Cherokee family. I hope you find a familiar name while browsing our family. If you do, please let us know, we are always happy to meet new members of our family. Names with an "*" are my direct lineage. Please let us know you visited by signing our guest book.
